History
National Switchgear, a Texas corporation, was started April
1, 1986. During its' start up years, National Switchgear was
intended to be a pure surplus equipment company. National
Switchgear experienced rapid success and with the growth of
the company it recognized the potential of offering additional
value-added services, and so National Switchgear began providing
its' customers with options such as circuit breaker repairs,
rebuilding, and solid-state retrofitting.
In early 1997 a new long-term corporate strategy was implemented
to add and develop National Switchgear's desire to lead the
local market in the field services and testing industry. As
the plan was implemented it offered its' customers a variety
of new on-site field services along with other engineered
products. A strategic partnership was formed with an established
manufacturer representative serving the local utility and
industrial markets in North Texas. A design engineer was brought
on board to assist in the development and production of new
customer-engineered products. As a result, in early 1998 National
Switchgear received one of its' largest orders from Georgia
Pacific. This job was a perfect blend of all the services
National Switchgear has to offer, using shop services, engineering
and design services as well as heavy on-site installation,
testing, and start up services.
Today, National Switchgear is committed to the ongoing development
and implementation of team-based management to provide and
maintain the foundation for realizing its' full potential.
