National Switchgear Receives East Texas Safety Awards
Longview, Texas – April 10, 2009
National Switchgear offers a broad line of new and remanufactured electrical switchgear products and onsite acceptance and equipment reliability testing services. Additionally, the corporation provides a variety of electrical power system engineering services such as arc flash studies and mediation services.
There were 26 businesses were honored for excellence in safety training April 9th, by the Safety Council of East Texas. Only work performed in the East Texas area for the year 2008 by member companies, were eligible for an award.
The 17 year-old nonprofit company was formed by local contractors to promote and improve workplace safety through safety training. The Safety Council of East Texas is a board member of the national nonprofit Association of Reciprocal Safety Councils.
National Switchgear, a provider of electrical power equipment and services, received the awards for a 0% incident rate for 2008, as well as 3 years in a row worked with no incidents.
Rick Wall, Council Director said, “the criteria to qualify for an award was stringent, and based upon the federal OSHA injury reporting requirements. National Switchgear met the award requirements and we are excited to recognize their efforts in promoting safety training in the workplace. The companies receiving these awards understand that safety training is required by law and it is good business to provide a safe and healthful workplace for their employees.”
Doug Powell, President of National Switchgear said “Safety, for us, is a business driver and something we always stay focused on. It is great to see that our employees are doing such a tremendous job”.
The keynote speaker was Greg Smith, CSP, Vice President, Region III, American Association of Safety Engineers. He spoke about the benefit of safety training and education in the workplace.
Companies from the manufacturing industries, industrial services, oil field services, and construction participated in the event.
